At ZeeBee's Heart Foundation, we believe that health is not just the absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Although Sudden Cardiac Arrest is not preventable, there are steps to take to detect potential risk factors. We strive to promote overall Heart Health and heart saving life-skills through Basic Life Support, CPR, First-Aid and the use of an AED.
The purpose and mission of ZeeBee’s Heart Foundation is to raise awareness about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), especially in young athletes like ZeeBee, while providing thorough, engaging and comprehensive Basic Life Support lessons and heart health education that will emphasize the significance of practicing good health habits and understanding the heart overall.
Teaching the skills of Basic Life Support, in accordance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an AED, will lead to bridges over the gaps in the likelihood of bystander CPR occurring in the event of an emergency, much like ZeeBee’s case!
Through the distribution of AED's to organizations and centers for recreational gatherings that are lacking, we can effectively start to combat the increase in mortality due to sudden cardiac arrest, especially in our young scholar-athletes.
After witnessing the collapse of my nephew, Zaharius Hillmon-Baker (ZeeBee), in January of 2021, during his senior year high school basketball game, we realized just how important CPR and understanding how to use an AED is for athletes, bystanders and medical professionals alike. After being placed any medically induced coma for 3 days, ZeeBee woke up, ready to communicate. Two weeks later, ZeeBee underwent open heart surgery to correct his cardiac anomaly.
On this day, the quick actions of CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) and the use of an AED (automated external defibrillator) saved his life. Today, he is back pursuing his NBA dreams!
Our professionally trained Basic Life Support, First-Aid & CPR instructors are committed to providing fun, upbeat and innovative classes to ensure you are more than confident and comfortable with your newly learned, life-saving skill-set.
